A little over two years ago I created this blog as a platform to talk about my first race, which I used to raise awareness and financial support for As Our Own. I ran my first half-marathon on Thanksgiving Day 2011 (my 28th birthday) and I have been a running fool ever since. This past October I completed my very first FULL marathon, which I was pleased to accomplish before my 30th birthday.

Well, I'm at it again this year. The Georgia Publix Half Marathon is coming this March, and I am signed on once more as the Atlanta Team Leader for As Our Own.

It is an honor to support this organization again this year. Their work in India, giving orphans a chance at a better life and doing their part to bring an end to human trafficking, inspires me to live with a more grateful and generous heart. My desire to fight for the freedom of these people has grown greatly over the past couple years. And I hope that my passion for this cause is contagious. I want YOU to get fired up about this, too. In my humble opinion, the ugliest reality of our world, in 2014, is that there are around 27 million people trapped in slavery. This is absolutely horrifying.

While I am certainly one of those crazy runner guys who loves to lace up and put in 6+ miles for fun (no joke), I am ten times more motivated to run if I can use my race as a platform to help bring freedom where there would otherwise be hopelessness and bondage. And yes, this is another blog to get you to open your wallet. But, it is truly awesome to see how these fundraisers have made it possible for As Our Own to build orphanages, provide education, and completely change the destiny for many girls in desperate need.

On March 23rd I am running for Punita and for the millions of others who don't even have the privilege of owning a pair of running shoes. I believe wholeheartedly in the work that As Our Own is doing to end human trafficking. Will you partner with me and Team Atlanta to help us reach our financial goal? Will you be a part of this incredible movement to bring an end to slavery in our lifetime? We need you.
