"The Luckiest" - Ben Folds - Kurt Scobie [Cover]

I figured I was due for a Folds cover. People often ask if I listened to Ben Folds a lot growing up. But, he's actually not much of an influence for me. This might surprise you, but up until a few years ago the only Ben Folds song I had ever heard, was "Brick". Thankfully, someone pointed me to more of his music. This month's cover song is one of my favorites to play.

So here you have it. My cover of "The Luckiest". Enjoy!

"The Wake" (Single) - Kurt Scobie [Original]

My new tune "The Wake" hit iTunes today! I am very excited about this release and for what is to come. I wrote this song as I was thinking about the issue of human trafficking and those enslaved in the sex-trade industry. There are some heartbreaking stories and statistics out there and I wanted to send a message to these victims that there is HOPE. That they are not alone. I believe that there is a rescuer for each one of us no matter what we are a prisoner to. This song is about getting free from everything that is holding us down.

I hope you enjoy this special song. This video is from my release show which was also a benefit for As Our Own. The funds raised from this show were given so that women and children in India can recover from a life in slavery.

Thanks for watching!

Peace.
Kurt

God Gave Me You - Kurt Scobie [Cover]

One of my favorite artists, Dave Barnes, released a song called "God Gave Me You" on his "What We Want, What We Get" album (2010). It is a well-crafted song and has gained quite a bit of attention. Country star (and judge on NBC's "The Voice") Blake Shelton just released his version of this song on his "Red River Blue" album (2011). "God Gave Me You" has become a favorite of mine and I thought it would be a good one to kick-off my cover-song-a-month video series.

If you get a chance, you should check out Dave Barnes' music AND his YouTube videos. He's hilarious. You'll like him. But first, I hope you'll enjoy my rendition of "God Gave Me You"

Thanks to the "GroupEase" team from the Music Business program at Kennesaw State University for helping me with this project. They will be working with me to bring you a new video each month on my blog. I hope you like it, and will share with your friends.

Enjoy.
Kurt
